**SLB and TotalEnergies Sign 15-Year Deal to Standardize Global Well Planning**
SLB has entered into a 15-year contract with TotalEnergies to implement its DrillPlan digital well planning and engineering software across the energy major’s global upstream assets.
The partnership is aimed at transitioning TotalEnergies to a unified digital planning framework. By linking subsurface data with well engineering and drilling workflows, the technology is designed to enhance collaboration and operational consistency across teams.
The DrillPlan platform consolidates historical offset well data, trajectory designs, casing and completion specifications, and engineering assumptions. This integration allows subsurface, drilling, and engineering departments to collaborate using a single, shared dataset.
“Operators are increasingly looking for scalable technologies that can support more consistent planning decisions across large and diverse portfolios,” said Rakesh Jaggi, president of SLB’s Digital business. He added that the deal highlights a broader industry shift toward digital tools that foster collaboration and lay the groundwork for future workflow advancements.
The implementation will merge TotalEnergies’ proprietary digital workflows with SLB’s digital well construction capabilities. The platform will support customized engineering processes while maintaining compatibility with other digital systems.
This agreement deepens the ongoing technology partnership between the two companies, aimed at expanding the use of digital tools throughout TotalEnergies’ engineering operations.
Financial details and the specific deployment schedule were not disclosed.
