(By Oil & Gas 360) – Crude oil prices trended downward on Friday following statements from President Donald Trump ruling out further U.S. military action against Iran prior to the upcoming midterm elections, alleviating immediate fears regarding Middle Eastern supply bottlenecks.

In Friday morning trading, Brent crude futures dropped roughly 1.7% to $102.55 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) slipped 1.4% to $90.22. This pullback comes on the heels of a turbulent Thursday session in which Brent surged nearly 4% due to heightened worries over regional supply stability.
Trump stated that Washington would hold off on new military strikes targeting Iran ahead of the November 3 elections, pointing to active diplomatic channels. Iranian officials similarly confirmed ongoing talks regarding proposals designed to eventually secure safer passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
However, despite this brief cooling of geopolitical friction, energy transit across the Middle East remains fraught with risk.
