Transocean has expanded its firm offshore drilling backlog by roughly $1.1 billion. This increase follows the finalization of a $1 billion agreement with Equinor alongside a new $62 million contract secured with A/S Norske Shell for operations offshore Norway.
The Shell agreement involves the Transocean Norge semisubmersible rig for a two-well program. Lasting about 120 days, the work will commence right after the rig finishes its existing Norwegian commitments. This deal adds around $62 million to the backlog, not counting extra services, and holds an option to drill a third well.
Additionally, Transocean gained final approval in late September for its Equinor deal involving three harsh-environment semisubmersibles: the Transocean Enabler, Transocean Encourage, and Transocean Endurance. Securing this approval converts the $1 billion agreement directly into firm backlog.
Combined, these two developments add approximately $1.1 billion to Transocean’s backlog, bolstering the company’s long-term drilling operations across the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
