### Key Players Driving Alaska’s Energy and Economic Development
The landscape of Alaskan energy exploration and infrastructure development is being shaped by a mix of state-backed initiatives and private enterprise. Recent presentations at the EnerCom Denver energy investment conference highlighted the strategic efforts of major entities operating within the state.
#### Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA)
As Alaska’s state development finance authority, AIDEA is a self-funded, government-owned corporation dedicated to fostering long-term economic expansion. By partnering with private industry, AIDEA finances and advances critical infrastructure, commercial real estate, manufacturing, and energy projects.
With an AA+ bond rating and flexible financing options, the authority lowers project risks to boost investor confidence. Notably, AIDEA has the mandate to own and operate strategic assets directly. Its current oil and gas portfolio features leases in the Alaska Coastal Plain, Cook Inlet natural gas developments, and a North Slope methanol plant.

#### Aspect Energy
Aspect Holdings, LLC is a Denver-based, private oil and gas exploration and investment firm established in 1992 by Alex Cranberg. Over its thirty-year history, Aspect has deployed roughly $2 billion in capital, resulting in the discovery of over 600 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBOE).
The company specializes in using proprietary 3D seismic technology to identify resources in underexplored basins globally, with past operations spanning the U.S., South America, Hungary, and Croatia. In early 2026, Aspect expanded its domestic portfolio by acquiring eight blocks covering approximately 110,000 acres in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska (NPR-A) for future exploration and development.

#### HEX LLC
Headquartered in Anchorage, HEX LLC stands as the only Alaska-owned oil and gas company. The firm owns and operates onshore and offshore leases, production facilities, and supporting infrastructure in the Cook Inlet region, currently supplying roughly 10% of Southcentral Alaska’s natural gas demand.
Beyond its active production, HEX maintains a broad portfolio of exploration and development leases across both the Cook Inlet and the North Slope. The company’s operations are further supported by its own in-house marine vessel and equipment businesses.
