**Chevron Joins SLB and TotalEnergies in Digital Subsurface Technology Alliance**
The Chevron Technical Center has officially joined “Arena,” a long-term digital subsurface collaboration originally established by SLB and TotalEnergies in 2024. The addition of Chevron brings a second major global operator to the initiative, which focuses on co-developing scalable reservoir engineering and geoscience technologies.
Under the partnership, Chevron will contribute funding, intellectual property, and technical expertise, with a specific focus on uncertainty analysis, optimization, and field development planning to help guide the technology roadmap.
By embedding subject matter experts from both Chevron and TotalEnergies directly into SLB’s technology centers, the alliance aims to shorten feedback loops between software developers and operators. This direct collaboration is designed to help the companies better navigate increasingly complex reservoirs and manage massive volumes of subsurface data.
A key objective of the expanded partnership is the integration of digital technologies and AI-driven workflows to enhance operational efficiency, accelerate insights, and improve decision-making processes.
This initiative builds on the companies’ prior successful collaboration on the Intersect reservoir simulator, expanding their shared focus toward open, extensible technologies for geoscience and field development.
