Saipem Secures $930 Million in Eni Contracts for Ivory Coast’s Baleine Phase 3 Project

Saipem has been awarded new contracts by Eni totaling approximately $930 million (€800 million), driven primarily by the third development phase of the Baleine oil and gas field offshore Ivory Coast.

Awarded by Eni Côte d’Ivoire and its partners, the offshore contract covers engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) services for Baleine Phase 3. Located in water depths of up to 1,300 meters, the project aims to boost production from one of West Africa’s most significant recent offshore discoveries.

The scope of work includes installing subsea production systems, flowlines, risers, and umbilicals. Offshore installation is scheduled to span roughly three years, utilizing Saipem’s FDS and Shen Da vessels.

The remaining portion of the contract involves the engineering, procurement, and construction of a new deoxygenation unit at Enilive’s biorefinery in Venice, Italy. This project is aimed at increasing hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) biofuel production, continuing Saipem’s partnership with Eni in the renewable fuels sector.

The Baleine Phase 3 award marks the latest milestone in Eni’s fast-tracked development of the massive Ivory Coast field, highlighting sustained demand for deepwater engineering and subsea construction services. Saipem noted that these awards reinforce its long-term relationship with Eni in both traditional offshore and energy transition projects.
