Perenco UK has successfully finished decommissioning operations at the Leman South and Durango subsea fields located in the Southern North Sea. The project involved plugging and abandoning the designated wells alongside clearing the related underwater infrastructure.
The scope of work focused on the Leman South well 53/02a-15Y and the Durango well 48/21a-4z. To execute the project, Perenco partnered with Petrodec, a decommissioning expert under the Dixstone Group, utilizing Petrodec’s jack-up vessel, the HAEVA.
Perenco confirmed that all operations were conducted safely and strictly adhered to the planned schedule.
This initiative follows previous subsea plug and abandonment endeavors at the Davy, Arthur, and Gawain sites, which were likewise carried out using the HAEVA. Perenco highlighted that its strategy consolidates intricate well abandonments and subsea structure retrievals into a unified program, avoiding the sole use of traditional drilling rigs and disjointed offshore projects.
Jo White, Managing Director for Perenco UK’s Southern North Sea operations, stated that the successful execution at Durango and Leman South underlines the firm’s capacity to handle intricate subsea well closures and equipment removals via a streamlined, integrated campaign.
