**Guyana Eyes 1.7 Million Barrels Per Day in Oil Output by 2030**

Guyana’s daily oil output has surpassed 900,000 barrels and is projected to reach nearly 1.7 million barrels per day by the end of the decade. Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat highlighted this growth during the local launch of Caribbean Energy Week 2027, noting that the nation’s production has surged from just 80,000 barrels per day in 2020, establishing it as one of the fastest-growing oil producers globally.

Ongoing offshore exploration and development will continue to drive significant investment as Guyana expands its oil and gas sector. Minister Bharrat emphasized that the country’s local-content policy offers substantial partnership opportunities for foreign firms and domestic enterprises. Currently, nearly 1,300 companies are registered with the Local Content Secretariat, and about 7,000 Guyanese workers have been trained and certified for jobs in the petroleum industry.

Additionally, Guyana is progressing with its 300-megawatt Gas-to-Energy (GtE) initiative. This project will utilize natural gas from the offshore Stabroek Block to generate domestic electricity and extract natural gas liquids. According to Luis Pirela, Lindsayca’s Guyana country manager and board member, the facility is scheduled to begin generating power before the end of 2026.

This continuous expansion of offshore drilling and gas infrastructure is anticipated to stimulate further investments in regional manufacturing, infrastructure, and energy services.
