McDermott has been awarded a major subsea contract by Eni Cyprus Limited to develop the Cronos gas field, located offshore Cyprus. This marks McDermott’s first subsea project with Eni.
The contract, which McDermott classifies as “substantial” with a value ranging between $500 million and $750 million, tasks the company with project management, engineering, procurement, and installation support for the offshore gas development.
McDermott’s Subsea and Floating Facilities division will execute the project, utilizing engineering and project resources from its offices in Houston, Perth, London, and Kuala Lumpur.
To support the offshore installation phase, McDermott will deploy its marine construction fleet, including its deepwater construction vessel, the Amazon.
“This award demonstrates the strength of McDermott’s integrated subsea engineering, procurement, construction and installation capabilities,” said Mahesh Swaminathan, McDermott’s Senior Vice President of Subsea and Floating Facilities.
The contract expands McDermott’s subsea footprint in the Eastern Mediterranean as Eni moves forward with the development of the Cronos gas field.
