**JARRELL, Texas** — Seismos has launched a new Applied Acoustics Research Center in Jarrell, Texas, to accelerate advancements in acoustic sensing, real-time completion optimization, and closed-loop well stimulation.
The 87,120-square-foot facility features a 2,349-foot full-scale flow loop, offering a controlled environment for operators, academic researchers, and technology partners to replicate pipeline and wellbore conditions. This infrastructure allows for the precise testing and validation of cutting-edge measurement technologies.
Equipped with advanced acoustic sensing systems, fiber-optic instrumentation, and flow meters, the flow loop can be customized to simulate diverse operational variables. These include varying flow rates, pressures, fluid systems, perforation designs, erosion conditions, and proppant loadings.
A key objective of the new center is the advancement of closed-loop stimulation, a process that relies on real-time physical measurements to assess treatment performance and adjust operations mid-stage during hydraulic fracturing.
Additionally, Seismos will utilize the facility to analyze and validate metrics such as pipe and perforation friction, flow distribution, effective hydraulic diameter, and perforation efficiency. This research will directly feed into the development of AI-driven completion optimization and automated systems.
The data gathered at the facility will integrate with Seismos’ existing database, which already contains subsurface data and measurements from hundreds of thousands of stimulation stages. This expanded dataset will be used to train physics-based AI models and refine operational decision-making tools.
Operating as an open research platform, the center invites collaboration from oil and gas operators, universities, national laboratories, and technology developers. Beyond upstream oil and gas, the research will target pipeline integrity, industrial sensing, and critical infrastructure monitoring.
“Our focus remains on solving some of the most difficult measurement and control challenges in upstream oil and gas and pipelines, including continuing to advance closed-loop operations,” said Panos Adamopoulos, founder and CEO of Seismos.
The facility will also drive research into multiphase flow, fluid dynamics, complex flow behaviors, and physics-based AI to enhance measurement precision and broaden the scope of acoustic sensing across various industrial sectors.
