**Horizon Petroleum to Begin Production Testing at Poland’s Lachowice Gas Field**
Horizon Petroleum has reached a major milestone in southern Poland after securing final regulatory approval and signing a drilling and services contract to begin work on the Lachowice-7 (L7) well. The project, located within the company’s fully-owned Bielsko-Biała concession, will involve the re-entry, recompletion, and production testing of the well.
Field operations are scheduled to start around August 1, with Exalo Drilling S.A. mobilizing the rig to the site beginning July 27.
The Polish Mining Authority has officially approved the L7 operational work program, completing the regulatory permitting process. Additionally, Horizon has finalized landowner agreements, completed wellsite and access road construction, and secured the necessary financing to transition the project into the active operational phase.
The upcoming workover on the Lachowice-7 well is designed to assess the long-term production potential of a naturally fractured Upper Devonian carbonate reservoir. The planned program includes:
* Removing existing suspension plugs
* Verifying the integrity of the wellbore
* Reperforating the reservoir
* Conducting an acid stimulation treatment
* Performing a production flow test
If the workover proceeds as planned, stimulation and production testing will begin in late August and run into early September.
“Reaching the operational phase of the Lachowice project represents a significant milestone for Horizon,” said David Winter, CEO of Horizon Petroleum. “This production test is the first step in our phased development plan to convert this reserve potential into commercial production, targeting initial cash flow in early third-quarter 2027.”
The Lachowice project holds 34 Bcf of NI 51-101-compliant 2P reserves, alongside 163 Bcf of risked 2C contingent resources. Horizon estimates the field’s total gas in place exceeds 1.2 Tcf. If the upcoming production tests prove successful, the field has the potential to become a vital new domestic source of natural gas for Poland.
Horizon Petroleum plans to release further updates as the operational and testing program progresses.
