**Petrobras Achieves Historic Production of 3.34 MMboed in Q2 2026**
Brazilian state energy giant Petrobras achieved a historic milestone in the second quarter of 2026, reaching a record-breaking oil and natural gas production of 3.34 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboed). This represents a substantial 14.1% increase compared to the same period last year, fueled by the steady expansion of major pre-salt projects in the Santos basin and enhanced operational performance across its offshore assets.
Quarter-over-quarter production also climbed by 3.4%. This growth was primarily propelled by rising output from several Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, including the FPSO Maria Quitéria (Jubarte field), the FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão (Mero field), and the P-78 and P-79 platforms (Búzios field). These advancements successfully offset the natural decline of older, mature fields. Over the course of the quarter, Petrobras successfully commissioned 10 new production wells, with six located in the Santos basin and four in the Campos basin.
**Milestones at the Flagship Búzios Field**
The Búzios field, Petrobras’ premier pre-salt asset, reached several historic milestones during the quarter. On June 26, daily production from the field’s platforms surpassed 1.2 million barrels of oil per day (MMbpd) following the integration and ramp-up of the P-78 and P-79 units. Additionally, June marked the first time Búzios averaged over 1 MMbpd for an entire month—a feat accomplished just eight years after the field began commercial operations.
A key contributor to this success was the P-79 FPSO, which commenced operations on May 1, five months ahead of its original target date. Boasting an oil production capacity of 180,000 bpd and a natural gas processing capacity of 7.2 million cubic meters per day (MMcmd), the P-79 has raised the total installed capacity of Búzios to roughly 1.33 MMbpd. Notably, the vessel achieved gas injection only 56 days after first oil, setting a new operational speed record for the company.
**Performance Across Other Assets**
In other areas of the Santos basin, the Mero field maintained an impressive average output of approximately 740,000 bpd. Meanwhile, established pre-salt hubs—such as Tupi, Sépia, Atapu, Itapu, Sapinhoá, and Berbigão—demonstrated strong stability, keeping production levels steady even without the introduction of new production systems.
