admin Grenada is gearing up for offshore hydrocarbon exploration, with authorities planning to award exploration blocks through a selective tender by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
Speaking at the opening of Caribbean Energy Week, Gilbert Yevi, Lead Consultant at the Grenada Hydrocarbon Technical Working Group, said the country is inviting proposals from interested companies to explore its prospective offshore areas.
“Between now and the end of the year, we’re opening our doors for proposals,” Yevi said. “In the meantime, we’re welcoming anyone who wants to come to Grenada. “It’s going to be very competitive [regarding] of fiscals and terms. By the end of this year or early next year, we should be awarding blocks,” he said.
Home to significant exploration potential, Grenada has established a technical working group tasked with building the industry “from zero to 100.”
“The question is not if Grenada will produce hydrocarbons – it’s when. We’re going to do it right and we’re going to learn from everyone,” he said.
On data availability, Yevi noted that Grenada has substantial 2D seismic coverage, as well as multi-client datasets from companies like TGS. The country’s total maritime area spans roughly 28,000 square-kilometers, with seismic coverage encompassing a significant portion of the basin, particularly in the southern part.
